I have a 71 Vette, every thing is stock. It has a 454, 365hp. Air, and power steering. No air pump. I am replacing all the belts, I have recieved new reproduction GM belts. Trying to install these belts and there is NO WAY!!! They are too short. Am I doing something wrong? All my info tells me that they are the correct belts.

I just replaced the belts on my 1971 365 hp 454" today and the Gates numbers are as follows:

Alternator and Fan Gates #9525

Power Steering Pump Gates #7385

A/C Compressor Gates #9476

Cross reference these numbers over to G.M. numbers

Toobroke has two of those 454 cars. thats the right belts..besides, gates makes the best belts anyway.. and it wouldn t be the first time a vendor sent the wrong part.

I changed my alternator pulley over to a 1/2" wide 2-5/8" diameter so I could run a 1/2" wide fan/alternator belt. So the number I gave you may not be right for your car.
