Is there such thing as a most efficient speed where you will get more miles out of each gallon of gas? Someone once told me 55 to 60 MPH?

How correct is this statement?

I heard in Vettes its like 75 MPH? Bigger V8, so higher speed.

This depends on a lot of variables( gear ratio/tire size/camshaft/intake setup etc.) My 92 camaro w/ a tpi 383 and 2.73 gear ratio/stock trans would get about 38 mpg at 120 mph

Is this a trick question?

I'm at an average 61mph. Cars almost run over me. Tires (looks at the eyebrows lift) are set at 60psi RR/FR at 57psi.

Never exceeded 68. And if I did, it was well under a minute to 30 seconds, so as not to slow traffic and impede traffuc day is moving!

You do the math:

1. 6 pints of gas topped off the tank from baseline, (leveled off tank approx height at beginning of run).
2. 35.8 miles round trip = MPG ??? (Do not try diss at home dissclaim her).
3. Stop lights waiting to change (is I turned the engine off until cars moved again). Any delay of the wheel not moving is no engine sitting at idle, but dead waiting to move once again.

Just watch your average mpg readout and find the best overall speed. Usually a nice steady 60 to 65. Steady being the key.

Of course the is ---but it is so low you wouldn't want to drive at that speed. Just watch your on board computer. Oce the car is moving --generally the lower the speed the better the milage.
