I do and want to see if this is a problem or if it is common with these engines. I would say that I burn aroun a 1/4 qt in a little over a month. Now I have just over 100k on my motor and I don't see any visible leaks.

Not with my LS1, but my Northstar sucks down a quart between changes.

same here, no loss between oil changes, and I have 64,000 miles

I havnt had mine long enough to really know. ive changed the oil once and really havnt had any issues.

I think I read the official position from GM for the LS1 is you have to exceed 1 qt. every 1500 miles for oil consumption to be "abnormal". On my old LS1, I never had a problem unless I drove it hard, and that is true for the Forged LS2 I have now. I was told by the builder that under very hard driving, I should expect a qt. every 2,000 miles.

It's not that being hard on it "wears it out", it's the high RPM operation and the PCV system that cause oil to be burned or sent into the intake system.

The more you rev, the more oil you use.

My 01 has 75,000 and has never used any oil between changes.

No oil getting burnt here.
