You might want to try patriot heads as a very cost friendly upgrade, or if you want better quality then go with Trickflow, or AFR's. Can't help you on the cost of the head job?

That is an LT1 correct? Some places may charge a little more time when working on the LT1 as opposed to LS1 or LS2. It will range a little from shop to shop , however I think that most shops will be around $100 an hour. As far as how many hours, I really won't speculate on that, although it will be a good handful. To do a good job you will want your block surfaced to ensure a smooth mating surface and you will also want to have your heads freshened up. (That is if you plan on reusing them) But if you have the $ for new heads then get new ones while you have the old ones off. Either way you look at it this is going to run you over a grand, how far depends on if you go with new heads, what kind of gaskets, and so on. Let me know what direction you go with!

Thank you for the correction on the engine! I am still learning and yes if you can do the job yourself and have all the tools, than yes it is a low cost job that will take a handful of hours. Now seeing that the majority of people out there are not going to tackle this type of job they will end up getting charged a good amount. I know what goes into doing these jobs, granted I've never done one on a TPI vette but you still need to have some knowledge or you can mess things up pretty good!! Once again, thank you for the correction!

It should cost $800.00 to $1000.00 plus parts. The Edelbrock performer RPM heads work great on the L98 motor.
