Maybe this is the wrong forum to ask this question, but......

I'm a old retired guy that feels maybe it's time to give up a car such as a Corvette. Probably the oldest Vette driver in the state so I thought I would ask opinions on value even if I know I've plowed to many dollars in the car recently.

2004 cpe. 24743 miles, preferred option package, both tops, new tires and wheels this year, new 8 year battery this year, certainly not a daily driver, and American Header system added this month w/catted X-pipe. HUD, 12 CD changer and all the stuff in the option pKg.

So how does the $24000 sound to you? If you were to get rid of it for that?

Not to good with the local asking prices of those that are currently on the local market. Even knowing that the majority of sellers will knock off some of the asking price for a sell ( traditional custom world wide). All markeets across the country vary from one place to another to some degree.

I expected to take somewhat of a bath, but hoping not to drown.

It was the year of that maintenance thing comes up, except the ARH that I just wanted to do.

I you don't need the money I'd keep it.
It will keep you active and cool!
If you don't like to drive, have someone else drive for you.
I love riding in mine almost as much as I did driving it.

Oh, I still drive it. We took a 1282 mile trip last spring. Lunch yesterday and then shopping at Loews and Home Depot. Next month I'll drive it to Lake Texoma for a Fraternity Old Fart reunion, over 500 mile round trip.

I watch the prices of these cars all the time. Occasionally I go to the dealer auctions with a dealer buddy and I always run over to see the Vettes go through the lanes. Just yesterday a 03 28k mi convertible 6 spd. went for 23500, right behind it was an 01 coupe with wheels/exhaust with 49k for 16500 and that's wholesale pricing. It always amazes me of the prices these cars go for. Some go low that I think will go high and some go high when I feel they should be lower, its really based upon the buyer, mileage and condition of the car always seems to be the factor. You can go by book value but which book? If I use KBB I get 1 price and if I use Edmunds, NADA etc I get another. There will always be a buyer for these cars, price it by the most beneficial book and drop it if you need to sell fast. I purchased my 2001 Z06 in Apr 2009 for ~$19k with 28k miles, clean carfax, title, orig. owner.

Your right. I have been checking the paper classified, Craig list for all the metro areas as well kbb, nada and the price for the same car varies quite a bit.

I haven't put mine on any for sale place yet. My wife says keep it, it's the most lovely coffin I've seen for you. She has a way with words.

Sounds like my wife. Every time we leave Costco you have to pass a display of coffins. Both my daughter and my wife make some crack about choosing my color / decoration.

I remind them that @ Costco, everything comes in at least a 4 pack.....

True. I bought my 02 Vert with 49K miles off of the 2nd owner for $20k. The car literally is mint. :rockon6rk:

Show up for you reunion in the Vette and be the envy of all your friends that never had the ba11s to pull the trigger on their lifetime dream!

Nice looking Vette, you shouldn't have any issues selling it that is my thought.
