the car has a motor that was build by an unknown person.

No idea what type of stuff has been done to it.

All that's known is what is seen on the outside

Mallory coil and after market distributor (stock cap & rotor don't fit on it)

Edelbrock intake with 2 four barrel carb's on it.

the car has a LOT OF TORQUE - it'll slam you into the back of the seat by just barely dumping the clutch in first

THE PROBLEM I AM DEALING WITH IS:
besides being a bear to start it in the morning
and not kicking down when ya' pop the gas

she idles between 8k and 15k mostly at about 15,000 rpm ... when it idles at about 8,500 it feels right ...

what to do to make this better?

Not sure If I keep reading this right, but......idling at 8k-15k. I understand that's full throttle on an insanely modified motor.......

You may want to post this in the C3 section of technical questions. You will probably get more answers.

Ah, now we're talking  I believe 800 for a manual would be alright but not 1500. The air/fuel ratio screws on the carb. may be a bit high.

It has 2 4-bbl carb's - unfortunately - my pockets are going force me to learn ... on my own.
