ok, with lifting pucks is it safe to lift one 1/4 at a time? or is it best to lift the front half the back half? sorry for the dumb Q. I never lifted a C5

you can lift 1 coner at a time, then put jackstand and do the other side. I like lifting the front together, then the back

C5's are all fexible like a C4
corner at a time will not hurt a thing

but

junk the pucks
attach strips of metal down the sides on the frame ( I made mine but vendors sell them)
and you can pick up a corner or a side at a time

AND

They save the rockers from most damage while driving
Mine weigh about 1.5 lbs per side
They have saved me so many times I lost count ( think speed bumps )

Just jack the entire rear or front at the same time- it's easier and faster. For the front, I have to put a 2x12 in front of each front tire and drive up on them to give enough clearance for my jack, but it's still quicker, and I hate the pucks .... :stupid:

1" X 3/8THS" aluminum and it runs the length of the rocker
I counter sunk the screws too.

Here's the way I lift mine. I only use the pucks if I have to change one tire.

Drive the front of the car up on some 2X12's.

Using a low profile jack that I got from Harbor Freight, I center a 2X4 on the jack plate and run it under the front of the car.

Once in place and lifted, I support the car with jack stands.

I repeat the process for the rear of the car using my 3-ton jack. I get the car high enough to do any work I need to do under the car, including draining all fluids.

You have to be extremely careful when you do it this way as you must ensure that those 2X4 are centered on 2 of the ribbed supports before you actually start raising the car. Also, DO NOT raise one end of the car very high before raising the other end. This can cause the jack stands to fall over. Work slow as you go and watch what you are doing!

The Rhino ramps are a faster way to go but they lack a low enough incline to raise our cars without rubbing the air deflectors really hard. They actually bend the air deflectors enough to cause misalignment of them (I know, I have a set that I no longer use on my Corvette).

The ramps you want to go with are called "Race Ramps". They have the proper incline to get our cars in the air without rubbing anything or causing any misalignment to the air deflectors.

The small downside to these ramps is that they cost $300.00 and $40.00 to ship! :toocrazy:

They may be over priced but like I said before, they don't rub the air deflectors. Plus, a lot of guys have their Vettes lowered and Rhino ramps are definitely not gonna work for them.

Just like junkman I lift mine - front first - slide the jack stands under the 2 X 10 and repeat the same process for the rear except I have the jack stands set so the back is about 2" higher that the front so alll the oil runs out..

Yep, that the way mine is also. The rear jack stands are 3 ton stands and are higher than the front stands.

Thanks Junkman this was really good info.

I see threads go back and forth about this product but I think it comes down to just how much you care about and take care of your ride. Let's face it, there are some crappy looking Vettes out there (not implying that any of those owners have posted in this thread).
