My insurance company was telling me that they won't cover all the mods on my Vette? Are there any insurance companies that will? They guy was saying there aren't that many that will? :(

I don't think that is true. Most companies are more than happy to endorse for additional items added to the vehicle. The only thing that is limited is if you add aftermarket items to the car and don't tell the company. If they are not willing to work with you, find a company that will.

Btw, I own and operate an insurance office. Feel free to bounce questions off of me any time.

You can get an appraisal for your vette then buy an insurance in the amount of the appraisal. Insurance normally pay only the market value of the car Any additional expenses is the owner lost.

Very true unless you insure your car to "stated" cost. Then it is covered up to the amount stated. Yes, this is an endorsement that can be added to your policy.

I had a $500 endorsement to cover cost & installation of vinyl CE style stripes. After I had an Encounter with a deer, that was included in the settlement. I added some of my own money & had the stripes painted on. I currently have a $2500 endorsement to cover the painted stripes, HUD retrofit, powder coated calipers and a couple of other mods. If car is stolen or they are damaged in an accident, no question about it.

After, Notice how clear the reflection is in the painted stripes and how hazy it is with the vinyl

It should be a market value based on how the car was at the time of the accident. If you had $4000 wheels on the car that get damaged this should be taken into account when determining the Market Value of the car. When my Z06 was totaled out they asked for all my receipts for the all the work I had done to the car and said that they took them into consideration when determining the value of the car.

Without an endorsement, it's usually going to be market value of the stock car. Even if you have receipts, the rate you are paying is based on a stock vehicle.
