Recently bought a c5 with a short throw shifter and it seems to be very stiff. Hard to get in first and rev, other gears not so bad. Anyone have one of these and can tell me if this is correct or should they be easier to use. Have driven several C6"s with stock shifters and they are smooth. This thing takes the fun out of driving it. May use the car on the drag strip it would be fine for that but in a road race where you are shifting it would be trouble. Dont want to tear it down untill I know a little more about what I"m dealing with.

Well it would be easier if you knew what brand the shifter was.

Many of the short-throws are stiffer. Less leverage.

Problems w/ 1st and rev may indicate a clutch not disengaging all the way.

As for road racing, how often do you go to 1st or reverse at speed? Video? <g>

I'm guessing you have a b&m ripper, almost anything is an improvement to the stock shifter, i have had them all currently run a mgw. you can always do the anti- venmon mod to smooth it out

Blu? What's the anti-venom mod? I've got a B&M and I'm not totally thrilled. I'll eventually go to an MGW but there are other priorities right now....

Purchase a couple washers (cheap), jack up rear, find detent bolt, remove bolt, place washers on detent bolt, and insert detent bolt back, you will notice a much smoother change but me personally i like a notchy feel

To my understanding weather it's a short throw or not that should have nothing to do with the ability to get it into gear.
