If you smell a burning electrical smell, TURN YOUR STEREO OFF!!! Coming back from picking up my 92' I started to listen to some music. I look back and I saw smoke coming from the rear.........then smelled the electronics burning!!!!!!!!!!! What a headache. Anyways, turns out the amps were burnt in some areas. They need replacing.

You have the Bose radio?
Popping when you turn it on/off and battery drain tend to be the amplifier relay gone bad.
The good news is it's a $12 part from the dealer.
The bad news is it's hidden way up behind the passenger's side dash.

Passenger side under dash you will find the CDM unit which is the pre-amp module. This drives your speakers and also receives from radio antenna.
I fixed mine myself. Take it out, open and I replaced a 1 ohm resistor. But note:Normally if this component goes or something gets burnt here, there is one or more of the speaker amplifiers causing this.

Could be a bad ground. Think I remember a post showing the speaker ground for the rear speakers being a problem.

Mine crack also. Rear speaker cuts out and cracks with movement. I don't use the radio much as it sucks!! I prefer the sound of the motor and muffler eliminators.:thumbsup3:

More than a few I bet.

Fixed a major rattle....tightened the side-view mirrors like someone here posted. Really helped alot, now just a few more rattles to go.:z1-2::z1-2:
