Having a hard time deciding on what Cat-back system to put on my 85 vette- Its between B and B system and Borla.

If you don't have to worry about emissions testing, run straight pipe all the way.

It is. You should hear mine, and all I have is stock exhaust manifolds right now. Sound's meaner than h#ll.
I do still have the front pre-cats, though. Once I move, I'll look into dumping those and go with headers.

:woowoo: The gates of hell will open for you then  You will have to show us a video of that!! I have a buddy of mine that had an L-98. Stock everything. No pipes from the cat back! and that was pretty LOUUUD!!

If I can figure out how to post a vid, I will. My exhaust stops just before where the cat would be. Not going to permanently leave it like that, though. I will eventually add headers with straight pipes. All started out with one of the exhaust pipes, almost rusted through, finally breaking and dragging as I was going down the highway. After taking the trans out to replace a gnarled flywheel, just too much gunk caked to the cat. Car sounds mean with it.

What about back pressure? I dont have to worry about emission.

What about it? Run true straight duals. Mine runs like a striped azzed ape.

Btw, after removing the cat, which was badly plugged anyway, my mpg average went from 16 to around 21 in the city, and around 28 on the highway. Of course, that is without putting my foot in it.

Interesting Robs. I have a little bug on my shoulder telling me that my cats may be no good.

It's possible. Over time, they get plugged. If you have high mileage... 170k on mine. As mentioned, I do still have the pre-cats. Might improve more with them gone. Might not. My exhaust ends a few inches after the tail shaft mounting bracket.

I had a leaking rear seal in my trans that had tossed tranny fluid all over the cat which had allowed other gunk to build up on it. I replaced the rear seal and inner tail shaft bushing while trans was out...too embarrassing sitting at a stoplight just to have it look like satan was about to appear from under my car with all the smoke it made from the leak.

:smilielol5: I can just imagine, heck yeah it'd be a bit embarrassing. I plan on going with a clamp on system in place instead of a weld when I delete my cats. I figured if they bring inspections back over here. Just loosen the clamps and weld on some other cats.....darn things are so expensive. Plus I've been getting a funky fuel odor like smell. I have a little suspicion it may be the cats or my O2 sensors.

Wasn't going to, but I'll share this. One day at a light with the top off and windows down, a kid in the backseat of a car next to me rolled his window down. Thought he was going to tell me nice car. No, he told me he 'thinks my car might be on fire.'

Hard to say what the smell could be. Possibly a leaking injector if you smell it after its been sitting over a short period.

:smilielol5: I've yet to experience one of those moments. Thinking someone will strike a compliment yet get something like "Hey you have a flat tire" "Your cars smoking!, you've got smoke coming out the back". It's not fun seeing any sort of smoke from your tail. Not fun at all I tell ya! Don't I think you know already...:smilielol5:
