What do you mean "wheel hop"? And when do you hear it?

Better tires and better foot control; both throttle and clutch
Either get traction or let it spin all the way out
Hop is from tires breaking loose then grabbing , breaking loose , etc
Best way to blow diff components .Stresses the outer yoke to breaking point.
Typical damage

Wouldnt a stiffer suspension setup cut the hop? I'm thinking like back to my olden days where we used ladder bars or slappers on the springs.On a vette I'd tend to think a coilover spring would help.

Better ( new ??) shocks would help keeping tire planted but not going to totally solve problem of tires breaking loose.
Plenty of us running the 1/4 with stock spring; most only go to coilovers for circuit work because of the susp tuning it allows
FWIW;
I have 420RWHP and no wheel hop on original '87 shocks because I have MT ET street drag tires that hook every time and don't break loose.

If your shocks are the originals, they need to be replaced based on time and mileage alone. The new shocks alone may cure your problem.

They used to sell these brackets to help with that hop, they bolt to the trailing arms & improve the geometry. I think they were made by Doug Rippie Motorsports. DRM also makes those X braces & other chassis stiffers too.

That was my first thought as well.
