Hi . I just purchased my first corvette . Its a 2001 Z06 / I cant say how much I love this car! Its just AWESOME! , and ive owned some real nice cars. I never realized how much fun driving a vette is..:)
What i need advise on is on which tires are best to purchase? ? I'm thinking of buying the original stock tires. But i thought I'd ask for some advice.. is it worth going back to the stock tires?

Personally Zeeohrix, I own a 2002 Z06 and I cannot wait to take the original Goodyear tires off. They are noisy and the handling sucks. I had Kuhmo tires on my 1993 and liked them very much. I also did some research on the new/old Firestone wide oval tires. Supposedly they are quieter and handle much better than the Goodyear.

I have friends that have used both Kuhmos and Toyos and all praise them. Me, I went back to the OEM tires on my two C5Zs and my C6Z.

I have Kumhos on my 99. They are great tires. If you want awesome tires though, you can't beat em. Michelin Pilot Sports. Bottom line. The only reason that they are not on my car is because I couldn't buy them anywhere at the time that I needed tires. I tried too!
Pilot Sports!! You will love em.

I guess my question would be, what kind of driving do you do? WIll you ever drag race? Road Race? Do you drive it in bad weather? These will all help determine what tires to buy.

I just got rid of the Goodyears last November and bought Khumos.
And I gotta say they are a really good tire for just running around like I do. Quiet and handle good. I highly recommend them.:iagree:

I don't have stock size wheels, but I just went from Pirelli Rosso's to Michelin PS2's and so far the PS2's are very nice. In stock sizes I heard the B.F. Goodrich KDTA(something close to those letters) are very nice.

Normal driving stock tires are just fine but if you plan to drag race your vette have the top of the line.

Can't go wrong with a set of Nitto's either. NT555 or Invo would be a great choice.

Thanks for all your input , I guess I'l stay away from the factory Goodyears.
My style of driving is mostly highway cruising , in dry weather , and occasionaly I drag race . Do you guys think the nitto drag radials are safe enough to get home if i get caught in the rain? I'm realy concerned about safety , but at the same time the factory tires won't hook at all , with any kinda throttle in 1st 2nd or even 3rd.

DR's won't be real friendly in the rain because of their design but the Invo's & 555's would be better.
However you could get an extra set of wheels & tires for drag racing only. Then just swap them out at the track.

Thnx again, I actualy decided to order the new style C6 Z06 replica rims and tire package deal, and keep my stock rims with DR, for the occasional drag racing. Now I just have to find a vendor to buy from.
