The clearcoat is failing on just my passenger-side headlight cover. I need to sand it all the way down and repaint (white) and reclearcoat.

Any recommendations on whether I should do this myself, or have it done by a paint shop.

I wonder how it would look if I repainted both headlight covers a contrasting color to the body, just to be different. Anyone done that?

Thanks.

I don't think I would do the different color thing, IMO would look too weird with the lights off. Now have you done painting in the past?
I think with it being on just the light I would actually give it a try.
Its a small part that if you do screw up, just try again and at the last straw , take it to a pro.

Would you let a family member perform surgery on you?

Sure, it's cheaper!

I say give it a shot...since its removable,so theres no color blending involved, and if your painting skills prove inadequate, you can simply drop it at a bodyshop.Let them do it over..

:goodpost: absolutely, and if you find that you have the skills to pull this off properly then you will have saved a few bucks!
