I have a metallic sounding rattling sound that I hear when the top (roof) is off. But when I put just a little pressure on the clutch - it goes away. Ideas?

I'm not well versed in Vette manuals, but in other cars that's the sound of a bad throwout bearing.
Noisy until you depress the clutch.

Exactly, happened to me a few years back, new one went in and noise went away!
