went out to eat last night and when about halfway home a droneing noise started comeing from the rear of the car, and it still did it sitting in my driveway before i put it in the garge... i checked the codes and theres nuthin, went out this smornin to see if it still did it and it didnt, anyone have anyideas of what it caveould be? i have been having probles with my fuel sending unit like under hard acceleration the fuel gauge drops to empty when the car has a full tank..

If you still have the 98 not bad at all put the tires and it is at the side of the 2 fuel tanks. 4 bolts hold it in. If you are using cheap gas may just need to use a good add to the gas. But if it making a bad sound out of the back pump. But the gauge going to empty is **** on the pump that is doing that. But if you chg out the pump that will fix that problem for a good time. These cars has a problem doing that on showing empty if using some gas.:burnout::burnout:

my 98 has 2 gas tanks?

Yeah saddle tanks connected by a crossover tube.

In the driverside tank, it can be a little tricky but nothing too serious to get the pump out of the tank.

will i have to pull the tank?

To get to the pump you will, it isn't all that bad believe it or not.

You might first want to reset your codes on the DIC to get the gas gage working again, then dump a can of Chevron Techron or Seafoam into your gas tank. Sulphur deposts in the gas play havic with the fuel scsors/transfer sypon pump and fle system.

I agree with fellow member "rclinton", using Techron will help with the fuel sensor.
Is it possible part of the exhaust is coming in contact with the frame at operating temperatures thus causing the drone noise?

i have no codes but ill try seafoam, i just put some through my sons fiero gt and it helped it alot
