I want to remove all of the smog crap on my motor, looks like someone done removed the pump an put an idler pulley in its place. Now im gonna remove the two plastic houseing by the a/c an block off the tubes that run to the headers. My question is will this give me a check engine light?? I noticed there is two plugs for the little houseings on the smog system.:confused:

What year is your car. The 2 plastic housings you speak of came on 85 to 91 Corvettes. On a 90/91 it will cause problems if removed.

I did mine that way on my '86 and never got a check engine light, but there are no guarrentees

On the 84 it's smog pump is in a different spot(drivers side) as are all the other smog components. Most of the parts under the hood of and 84 are 84 only , Even the hood it self, 84 only.

No driveability problems, You mite hear a little popping from the exhaust when decelerating but it will run fine.
