I am thinking of getting one put on my Vette but I don't want to if they don't work for sh*t!
If you know of a particular one that stands out from the rest let me know.:thumbsup3:

I had issues with mine too and changed out the antenna and it worked for awhile then stopped again.According to my mechanic its typical.I went with XM in the car so I never use the factory antenna anymore.

My antenna runs along the top of the windshield. Had it there for 6 or seven years. Works fine. I do live in a large metropolitan area so signal strengh is not an issue. I don't know the brand it was put in when I had new radio installed.

I actually tried several models and types of hidden antennae. The best i found was a marine application that could mount to the inside of the windshield. i removed the interior moldings around the windshield in order to get it stuck on as close as possible to the edge and the moldings hide almost all but a slight edge of it.
Unfortunately i lost the web address of the company that sold that.
I tried about 7-8 others and found they all were worthless. I will try to search out a new supply for the good one.
It is a strange metallic pattern laminated in a clear plastic with a stick on side that is impossible to lift up if you make a slight alignment error while mounting. But it has worked farther into the mountains than my stock one did.

I have yet to see one that works perfect.

Are we talking about the automatic radio antenna that goes up when you start the Corvette. My '88
still works fine. Knock on wood I guess.

I have seen a couple guys with them and they aren't very good of what I've seen.

Get XM Radio. It's a whole lot easier, stealth antenna, music YOU WANT TO HEAR, and NO COMMERCIALS.

This one DOES work. You mount it along the inside top of your windsheild while hiding most of it in the interior molding.

It is actually working better than the stock one on my 87. And i seriously doubt that there is anything in it that will ever give out like the motors do on the stock ones. The zig-zag part is actually a tape that will stick to the upper most edge of your windsheild and you run the wire dowh through the passanger side inner moulding and into the dash area. Once done it is almost completely out of veiw (if you crawl up onto the dash and look up ou can see the edge of the tape part) and out of the way. The tape part is only shown partly in the site pic. It is long enough that it reaches across about 2/3 of the top of the windsheild.
I have tried several other types and ALL of them got horrible reception. This marine one actually gets better signal than my stock one did. I love it since there are no parts to worry about breaking, is fairly cheep, completely out of the way, and allowed me to paint over the hole the stock one mounted in.
Sorry that it took me a while to find the source again...It has been about 4 years since i bought one. Now that i have found it again i am thinking of replacing the ones in my fiero and kia. The fiero will be easy...getting it to the rear of the head-unit on the kia may prove to be a giant PITA. But the trueth is that it was kindda hard routing it in the Vette also. I had the dash out when i did it making it easier.

What's the reception like in your area? Mine acted up, so for a temporary fix I got it to retract and disconnected the motor power wire. No degradation in signal reception. I may just live with it that way.
