i have found the air intake kit i want to get for my 85, but am in the market for ideas on what to do for an exhaust system. im curious to know how many owners have installed full length exhausts, and what they installed. ex. long tube/short tube headers, y-pipe/true dual w/ crossover, and mufflers. what manufacturer makes the best product, and where's the best company to buy from? i've looked at TPIS, Hooker, and some others, but want the best set up. would really appreciate the input!

IMO some quality long tube headers with primaries sized for your engine/rpm band and a full dual exhaust system with and equalizer pipe can't go wrong. I put hedmann elites on my 383 corvette with a dual 3 in system/crossover pipe/two flowmaster 40s. I think If you look at pricing out aftermarket Ypipes and cat backs you'll find its just easier to pick some quality headers and have the rest of the exhaust built by a reputable shop. I do strongly recommend the hedman elites or any header mfg that offers heavy gauge headers, as this will make them last much longer. And some sort of ceramic paint/coating is also highly recommended. Just make sure you talk to an engine guy about your mods/rpm band on your engine before picking headers, as they control engine output just as much as the intake/cam and should match in area of operation.

Go w/ muffler deletes...they are the best sound of anything out there & the cheapest! Plus @ cruising speed sound not too bad!
I have them on my 92 & best sounding vehicle ever!
