I have a c5 and it has started to not start almost every time . there is no power like the rear mirror lights or the chiming sound when the key is in the ignition with the door open and it will not crank. but if i pop the hood disconnect the battery for a second and then re-connect it the lights come on the chiming starts and it cranks right up any thoughts on how to correct this or whats going on ?

Now will it start for a little bit now that you've pulled the cables off and put them back on?
I wonder if while your driving the wires are moving from hitting bumps or what have you and then it gets to a point where you're not getting enough juice to the car until you fiddle with the cables again?

the car runs fine when i crank it and run it it has never died or shown any problems at all there is just no power to the ignition whatsoever unless i disconnect and reconnect then it starts right up plus this is every time i have check the cable connections and wires and all is good and clean no sign of corrosion build up had battery checked too it cranks just fine

VATS Key or theft deterrent issues?

I do believe that it could be the VATS system i just don't know how to cure the problem is it a key issue a control module issue or a system all on its own ? i say it is that because yesterday when i did the normal routine of disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it to start it, it started and i put it into gear and went about a foot and it cut the engine off i did start it many time's around five and it went about a foot each time.I then disconnected the battery and reconnected it and it started just fine and did not cat off anymore. I have been told several things that a locksmith can reset it or is this strictly something the dealer should do ? would a simple diagnostic test show where the problem is ? also is there something i can do to disable it altogether?

Do a search on it, It is in the computer when you unhook the batt it will reset it for a time. per say it will only get worse in time. You can reset it by the reset mod up on the dash. Do a search if you need to p.m. me. I have it wrote down but hold the reset bottom then hit one of the bottons 5 times in less than 5 sec then let go of the reet then hit reset again. If you cant find it p.m. me and I will look it up and p.m. you it back.
