Mine started leaking this week. Seems to be coming around the screw on the vac valve.

Any way to repair these valves? Thought about putting some silicone on the screw the replacing it. Not sure if that will work.

Part has been discontinued by GM. Ecklers wants $150.

Anyone rig up their own shutoff valve? Or just run heater hose and no valve? Heater core would be hot all the time right?

you can easily plumb around and eliminate the valve.

Race on!!!

No problem with more heat in the cab?
Think this is what I will do.

Think this is what i will do.No. The diverter (blend door) sends the hot air away from the conditioned air. MY water valve has been gone for over 20 years, with no ill effects.

Done!!

Was just thinking....any value to putting in a 3/4 inline shutoff valve? Turn off in spring and open in fall, no biggie. Would keep the heater core from getting hot in the summer.

That will allow the water to stagnate all summer in the heater core and corrode it all that much faster. Not a fun job.

Same as the original valve right? Or doeu the original valve fluch the core a little bit before shutting off?

Think I will run it without a valve ans see if I notice a diff in the AC.

right.
I don't think the original valve does any flushing.

I think you will be just as happy with no valve.
