i just had my transmission rebuilt (near gears 1 - 5) due to wear along with a new synchro's........APPARANTLY this transmission is NOT meant to be DRIVEN..? when i spoke to the tech about it, he even mentioned that these tranny's DO NOT stand up well against aggressive usage....
Keep in mind that i don't drive the car like a maniac or anything ~ i merely 'get on her' once in a while the way i believed God intended....and the transmission has always had quirky noises, etc since the first day i bought the car.....
In their defense [the dealership], my vehicle's new car warranty had just lapsed, and they still did all the work UNDER WARRANTY which was a relief (since the parts/labor costs sould have exceeded $4k)
Has anyone else had an issues with their C5 manual transmissions....?

I picked up my C5 2002 Z06 about 3 weeks ago in Vermont. I live near Chattanooga, Tennessee, so I had to drive it back 1,200 miles. I bought the Z06 with the intentions of driving it like it is/was intended to. Which is hard, not abusive. I have had no issues and do not expect too. I'm thinking you might have had a issue from the begining and that is why the dealership fixed it under warranty even though it was supposide expired, just my .02. I hate that you had to have gone through that mess, maybe now will be okay. I would defintly drive it hard once it is all broken in and make sure that it is to your liking.

I agree! I have never heard that the MN6 is a weak link, quite the opposite actually! Very strong unit, it can be noisy though, the only thing you have to watch out for is excessive wheel hop.
Did you get the car new or used? Someone may have put the wrong fluid in the transmission and screwed it up, or it could have just been a lemon?
The only issue I have with the stock manual is the shifter, but a short throw and anti-venom mod fixed that! :)

i bought the car BRAND NEW....it was VERY disappointing ~ however it seemed nice and solid when i drove it from the dealership to my garage...however that was the end of my 'trying it out'....since it was already late in the season, the car had just been detailed, and it was time to put her away for the winter....
....THAT WAS THE WORST PART....i didn't have my car for like 6 WEEKS (while they were trying to figure everything out as far as diagnostic)...so i basically LOST the last six weeks of summer/fall driving season....
I guess i'll have to wait till April/May to see what she's got!!!

Wow that sucks! Hopefully everything is fine now and you can enjoy it this spring. The 50ths are beautiful cars! I especially like the interiors….

THANKS....the interior color scheme was one of the major selling points to me....plus the magnetic suspension is great (allowing for sporty or touring), when in touring, it feels more like a 'normal' car...LoL...and who can forget the 50th anniversary multi-stage paint ~ in my opinion ~ i've yet to see a better color on a car...:)
