I have a right headlight on my 2003 C5 with 7,000 miles that growls when it is closing. There is no noise when it opens up. I have a bronze gear on order now.

There is a great article in the July issue of the Corvette magazine on this very problem and how to replace the gear.

My question is; how long will my left headlight continue to work? and secondly how many C5 owners have had bad gears in their C5?

Why hasn't GM had a recall on these plastic gears?

i replaced the left one on my 2001 with 24,000 on it. The other plastic problem c5's have is with the seat washers down under. When they go bad causes "seat rocking". These are definialy 2 plastic components that need addressing. Dont know why the use plastic in these 2 stress areas where a cheap peice of metal could have been used!!

I hardly use my headlights, atracts too many bugs :1sm258fight:

I DO have the seat problem though, do you just use a fender washer in its place?
