What do I need to do to get the check engine light off? Nothing is wrong with my car but the light is still on?

With the car off turn on the key and press the reset button, then hold the options button and press the fuel button 4 times within 5 seconds then release. The dic will run the codes both current and history in the auto mode. You will need to switch this to manual so you have time to reset the codes as the auto reading runs too fast to delete them. To do this press the options button again and will come to each code every time you press it. If a code comes up press and hold reset till it says no code. press options again and the next code will come up. Do the same until each catagory says no codes. At any time you press the gauges and trip button to go forward or back to see the codes. Turn off the key and restart and the check light will be off.

Are you certain? What was the code that caused it?

If you are going to get smogged, don't do a reset just before hand - it'll fail.

Depending on the code the MIL will clear after certain conditions are met - on it's own.

Sure, there's something amiss. Those lights don't come on for no good reason. Do your diagnostics and decode it. Google for them and fix it.
