Can a "Touch Screen DVD" be installed in my C5 and still retain the functionality of the OEM "Trunk-Mounted" 12-CD Changer? My guess is there would be an "interface" problem between the DVD and the CD Changer but not sure. Thanks!

most aftermarket head units have a cd changer port on the back. Check before you buy and make sure it does. You may want to check and make sure the cd changer runs through the actual head unit and not some stock amplifier or something. If it runs through the head unit itself it should plug right up and if it runs through an amp, it shouldn't matter.

I'm not really sure about how C5's are set up but it sounds like chevy95 has your answer let us know how it goes.

I've heard of aftermarket changers being interfaced to the OEM radio but not OEM changers to aftermarket radios. With majority of radios going USB, IPOD and MP3, there aren't too many companies still producing applications for changers.

I would contact a shop that installs car audio and see what they say.

I sent a dozen or so querries to "Stereo Installers and Manufactures of DVD Players" and they all came back with the same reply....IT'S NOT POSSIBLE. This is pretty much what they all said:
"The protocols that the Delphi 12 cd changer in the 99 C5 Vette use are not duplicated in any of the aftermarket units nor is there enough demand for an adaptor for any one to make them. The adaptor or adaptors would have to cover all the different types of units that are on the market and not enough Vette owners are going to do what you want to do to make it financially viable. With Pioneer units I can offer a 12 disk changer or better yet the Ipod cable that can play audio and video from the ipod through an indash DVD touch screen. Let me know what I can do to help you further with the project.

Well man, sorry to hear that. Maybe you should just get an ipod. It's a lot more convenient than having a ton of cd's anyways.
