Are the half shafts the same on both sides?
Secondly, at what point (power wise) would be a good time to put hardoned ones in?

They are the same on both sides. Why do you want to change them to a different type?

I think he's looking at the hardended ones for high power needs....

I read somewhere that the basic C5 drive train (sans clutch) is good for about 500hp - ish....

Is the right side one on the C6 a two piece then, I thought I read before that the right side one on c5/c6 was a two piece.

You read some bum scoop or misread the info. Mine is one piece. I got a nice long look at it when fixing my leaky butt.

There are CV joints.
