: Question about X pipe

Hello. I have a 2000 C5 with stock exhaust and am considering changing the exhaust to a Borla. I'd like more growl, deeper sound, etc. I have the opportunity to buy a brand new Borla X pipe for a great price. But I've read a few threads that seem to indicate the X pipe would make the car more quiet. Also have read it would make the car a bit slower at lower accelerations. Are either of those assumptions true? Thanks very much in advance for any response or advice.

Basic rule is "turbulence=noise" (or sound :thumbsup3: )

The X-pipe will allow better flow so it will reduce the noise.

I have an SLP cat-back and when I installed shorty headers it actually got quieter inside the car.

As for power loss, I doubt it would be noticable.

There's also the myth that an X-Pipe will reduce or eliminate the "popping" sound that you will get with most aftermarket exhaust systems.
NOT true! I replaced the stock system from my Z06 with a Borla Stinger and their X-Pipe. The sound is outstanding, BUT, there is the distinctive "popping" on deceleration.
At first, it drove me nuts, but after learning to alter my driving style to minimize the sound, I actually grew to enjoy the popping, and now I find myself altering my driving style to maximize the sound!
Go figure...buy the Borla and you'll be happy you did.

I have a corsa with an x pipe on my 2000 C5 and it sounds wicked ! It's a great mix between a muscle car sound and an exotic. The sound really suites the Vette !

I have the Corsa Pace Car with Pro Series tips and a Borla X pipe and I love the sound... I replaced the X pipe when I installed the Corsa Cat backs, just made sense to me to improve the H pipe setup that is stock. The X pipe helps better balance the exhaust and actually improves flow by increasing the scavenage effect allowing more fuel to be pulled in during the intake/exhaust overlap. More fuel, more HP!

Man up!
