I have a 2007 Z06 and when I purchased the vehicle my sales person told me to get a battery tender and charge the battery once a month during the winter months. After doing this I now have a dead battery even after jump starting my Vette. What is the procedure to keep the battery charged? Thanks, Steve

First thing I'd do is take the battery and have it load tested at the parts store. Putting a "battery tender" on it once a month will do nothing, except maybe harm the battery. Battery tenders are designed to be used FULL TIME when the vehicle is not in use, and not "charge the battery". They maintain the charge. If you use one, hook it up and keep it on ALL the time your car is in the garage. I suspect you have a battery that's served its purpose (3 years).

I brought Z06 to the dealer (car was still under warranty), they tested the battery and found it to be dead. New battery installed and was told to put my car in reverse when its parked anywhere. Thanks for the info about the battery tender. It will be on the battery all winter long.

...and was told to put my car in reverse when its parked anywhere. IIRC that issue only applied to the 2005 C6. That should not be a factor for a 2007.

When I bought my 2009 Z06 two months ago the salesman told me to leave the car in reverse also. I went off for a week and did not leave car in reverse. When I came back the battery was dead. Maybe just a coincidence? I don't know.

I get it. these C6s need a battery tender on all the time.
