I picked up a used set of Kooks headers and have installed them on the car. The problem I'm getting is when I install my X pipe its now rubbing on the passenger side? I have rechecked all my bolts on the headers and can't figure out why this alignment is so off? With a crow bar I can move them over but they don't stay? Any suggestions on this one?

Is there a complete even seal on the headers butting up to the engine? I've never heard this before? Where the headers dropped or and signs up being hit with something?

Try loosening up all the clamps, pry it over with a crowbar, then re-tighten the clamps while you hold it. It should stay after the clamps are re-tightened. It's typical to have to do a little adjusting when you install exhaust parts.

:iagree: especially on used headers that have taken a "set" and conformed themselves slightly via heat and vibration to the original car that they were removed.

This is what happened when I bought a used set of LG awhile back and ended up getting a new set!! Terry

Seriously this can happen? What if I can't get them over? Then is my only option to live with it or get new headers?

Exhaust systems do have some elasticity so you should be able to get them into place as was suggested by Ed @ LME.

A good example of some used parts that may take more thought about buying beforehand, to save what... $100-$200 it may not be worth that savings, hard to tell though, I guess you really never know.
