hey guys,i've had a starting problem with my vette for a while.after replacing a bad starter,my car wouldnt even turn over.ive traced my wires to a silver/gray box.it mounts behind my passenger side heating vent.inside, there is what looks to be a circuit board.i will upload pics in a bit.any clue on what this is?is it the VATS?also,i found my starter interrupt relay and it isnt sending voltage to my starter.what causes this?I can ground the green wire to the gray box's connector and it will turn over, but no fire.I bought a spark tester and im getting spark.whats happening????:z1-2:

Because the starter enable relay is operated by the VATS module which obviously is not seeing the correct reading from the key.
Have you got a 2nd key to try?
Try cleaning the contacts inside the Ign switch that read the resistor pellet on the key ,clean the key.

Hi Rod where is this box on the 1990?
The VAT Decoder Module functionality is built into the CCM on 1990-1996, so in short, there ain't no box on a 1990.
Thanks Ray!
Are this all inside the one box in the engine compartment?

If you're asking about the CCM, it does do quite a few things besides VATS, but it is behind the dash not in the engine compartment.
