Hey all,I thought I would run this past the c4 guy's since the 4l60e is basically a 700r4.My lil bro has a 98 ls1 camaro that the tranny went out in back last year.He ordered a competion tranny from a well known builder, installed it and drove it home about 20 miles. It then quit pulling We removed it and sent it back, they informed us it was a cooling problem,so we flushed the lines and installed a RV tranny cooler(BIG) when the new tranny arrived we installed it and this time it made it 17 miles before crapping out.It pulls in foward gears although it seems to bog, nutreul acts like it's binding and reverse binds bad and tries to move foward.and the people are not going to warranty it agian.we were told possibly converter so we replaced it.No help,we had a friend who works at a tranny shop come over and help dissassemble the thing, and upon inspection found no damage (and the sun shield is fine)next we replaced the valvebody and still the same thing. So anybody got any other ideas?? I know it's not a vette but hey,He's the one that help build my 84 so i gotta ask :z1-2:

wow thats a nightmare. I find it hard to believe that the diagnosis that came from the well known builder to be accurate. the tranny would not over heat in that short of a time frame even with no cooler on it. Since the friend who works at a tranny shop says no damage sounds like its good pump clutch wise. I suspect the maze plate has been moded by the well known builder via shift kit drilling or gasket ball bearing missaligned or sticking in maze plate. trany case poristy is not all that uncommon . Take it back to that well known builder.

Thanks for the reply guy's.I think he's going to let his friend take it to his shop.He believes it could have a valley clogged since the 3500 stall did have shavings in it and alot of wear when he cut it open today, maybe we didnot notice anything when we drained the thing under the car.IDK tranny's are black magic voodoo to me,I will swap them but i refuse to work on one.And unfortunatley the builder is in California and since they wont cover it agian it's pointless to ship only to loose it and 2500 plus dollars.I just hope he gets it fixed, the car is a beast and I'm waitng to get some vids of our cars.Oh and yea,we all pretty much thought the builder was full of it about over heating that quick.
