I have been getting "Service ABS" and "Service Active Handling" messages in the DIC. They are not on every time the car is started but they do come back. Is this a serious issue and can these systems be worked on by a busted knuckle mechanic?

Considering they are pretty much electronic, I'd say "no". You are qualified to swap the parts though. Figuring out what is wrong is the challenge.

I just experienced the same thing. It wouldn't trip a code initially but after a few days, it finally stored a code of C1287. Fortunately my extended warranty is still good. The dealership had to replace a steering wheel positiion sensor. The problem was solved. :patriot:
