The 268H camshafts are a very popular grind for low compression computer controlled engines. I'm running an Erson 214/214 roller that is very similar. A bit less duration but a bit more lift.

My compression since this mod is no at 10 to 1, so its a bit higher than before.
I'm getting ready now to take it out for its first datalog and VE learn. You can definetly tell now theres a cam in there.

Thanks guys! even though the sound is distorted.
This one is a lot better and clear.
You can tell I need to tune the idle a bit.

I've been getting the car out more and more. Definetly need to hold on and I haven't hit any WOT areas yet.
I think my tuning issue will be in the low RPM's 700-1700 area. The car wants to jump and surges quite a bit. Hopefully it can get smoothed out cause right now I don't like that.

That is the same problem I am having with mine, that and the fact that every cop that sees me follows the car. I adjusted the idle last night and got it running a bit smoother. The vacuum pump is in and I am ready to drive it now! Just have to take care of a few other small things tonight. Looks like we are both finishing up right around the same time. Other than that, your car sounds great man. I hope to post another vid of mine tonight as you can really hear the lope of that cam with the idle set right.

Its smoothing right out once I accelerate but I agree that low RPM definetly needs some adjustment. I worked on it a bit this morning. I smoothed out my Low VE tables. In Neutral it seems to be better but in gear my RPM's drop and in turn my volts go down to 11.4 and the car stalls. So it needs more adjustment.

C4 for sure

Thanks guys!..Here's to you!..:beer-fresh:

I think I got lucky with the combo that I chose. I used camquest and quite frankly I know nothing about how to choose a cam. A few guys feel this should perform well and once I get it dialed in I'm looking forward to seeing what I can do with it on a track. I've found some help with the tuning of it and can't wait to get started.

I'll be honest I'm pleased as well with actually doing all this work myself. I have more than enough tools but have never gotten into an engine like I have the past few months. First a conversion... then cam and heads. A few problems in between but you learn from your mistakes. None of it would have been possible without the help of you guys and the forum. Thats exactly what the forums are all about... so thank you!... and again here's to you all...:beer-fresh: ... oh heck one more..:beer-fresh:. Better be careful starting to get a "buzz" already.:rofl:

If you like these projects wait till you see whats gonna happen in a few months!!! Might post a teaser pic for you guys soon.

That does sound better. Did you adjust timing on it?

Mainly I had to adjust the SA table in the tune.
Found my IAC counts were low so adjusted that
Raised my RPM up in the tune as well.
Its getting there and moving forward with it. Next step is to start getting some drive time in to see where my fuel maps are.
But yes its a huge differance from day 1. Really feels like its gonna be a nice combo.

The 292xfi is doing great so far for me, might be worth taking a look at or going with a custom grind. Did you see that new vid in my thread with the idle set correctly?
