Need a buffer. What do you recommend? I've seen there are so many brands, then sizes, than types! Which is good for the weekend warrior detailer?

I have detailed motorcycles for years and recomend a Porter Cable 7424. Its a dual action orbital buffer thats very tough tool. It is nearly impossible to burn through with this tool. Hope that helps some?

lol! You know what I'm talking about Junkman! lol That shirt looks like it's gonna fall apart! 4oz shirts don't last, I'll buy you an SV tshirt and you will see what quality is! I didn't get to meet you last year at Carlisle as I was only there for one day and when I walked by you were doing a lesson at the Adams tent. Hopefully this year I'll be able to stick around longer and chat it up with you a bit. I have watched many of your youtube vids and all were full of good info bro.

Actually, the Griots, Meguiar's, Kestel and Porter-Cable are all the exact same polisher. They have just been re-badged to accommodate the various companies. Other than that, they are all the same polisher.

I don't trust myself with a buffer, just keep doing it with my hands! lol

Nothing wrong with doing it by hand Bill, if the results you get are what you are looking for. I on the other hand know that machine polishing will yield significantly better results than doing it by could ever do. The PC-7424 is so easy to use, that a kid could do it. I prove that show after show when I'm traveling around every year. If these kids can do it, surely a grown man should have no problem.

Notice, they are NOT buffing on some spare, junk parts!

Even the big kids can do it!

I could teach these kids to fix the paint on my own car.

Are there any that you would say "Do not get that one" because it is very easy to hurt the paint job. It seems that most of the buffers are set up to keep you from damaging your paint.

No, most of them are NOT setup to keep you from hurting the paint. Even some of the orbitals are dangerous. You need to watch the videos I posted in this thread. They answers your question in detail.

The little girl came back to the booth later in the day and asked if she could buff on some more cars. I cracked up! She was hooked!

I know nothing about that one. However, if I compared the spec's of that one with the spec's of the PC, I could give you a very educated opinion.
