My alternator bearing is making a noise and I want to replace it before going cross country on Route 66. What is the output amps on an '84? I see amps from 85 to 120 and higher. My car has the Cross Fire Fuel Injection engine. Will it hurt if I install a 1992 or 1993 LT-1 alternator? I suppose it will be higher amp output.

The higher the output amps the better but not one from an LT-1 it`s to much work. Take your alternator to a good alternator rebuild shop, Have it rebuilt and they can up the amps while there in it. And bolt it back on.
