I woke up to find the roof, hood, and back (including the rubber) all covered with thick gel that stripped the paint clean thru to the fiberglass. I found a semi-close match (rattle can) at autopart store for a temp. fix. Am about to pay for paint job, & was wondering if there were any tips on sanding it myself. Plan to use a sanding block but some say I should use orbital sander...any tips? Also, was told there is some type of fiberglass filler that would make the sanding job less of a task...any truth in this?

The trick is going to be getting any of the stripper that was absorbed into the fiberglass out and cleaned off. By no means am I any kind of expert, but I do have a little experience with aircraft composites.
Before you do any sanding, maybe wash it down with DAWN dish soap and dry it well.
The orbital sander will be fine for large flat areas, but be really careful around any edges. Just a little too much and it'll have more waves than a ballgame.
Hve you talked to your insurance company about this?

Paint is absorbent and you would need to remove a lot of your cars clear coat to remove the paint stripper, I would suggest you contact your vehicle insurance company about a claim.
It happened to me once, I ended up with a slashed soft top, tyres and leather seats, so what did you do to **** her off? ;)
