: To supercharge or not?

There are 2 things I want to change on my 2006 Z, 1st as I posted already is the stock wheels need to go.

2nd is supercharger? I know this will void my warranty on the car correct? But also will add a sh*t load of power. So I have been looking at a couple different options and wanted to see what others have done. Any regrets?

I went with a magge. I love the power band it kicks in around 1800 rpm. and the sound is just unreal. It looks great too, and I love the high rise hood. But they are all good you won't regret it.

Twin Turbo's. If you haven't driven a TT car it is awesome! And no belt issues.

Not a TT guy, really have my eyes on a couple superchargers.

I was speaking to a rep yesterday with the Maggies and he was telling me about a 3 year warranty with the Maggies and he also said that the Maggie won't void my warranty? But then when I was on the phone with the Procharger rep he said I can't use the Maggie on a Z06? I'm confused?

Keep in mind that since you are in California you need to use a supercharger with a CARB EO number. Vortech has one. Callaway/Magnuson should have a LS7 supercharger soon and I'll bet that gets a EO number.

The Magnuson uses a cast aluminum intake manifold that houses the intercooler and mounts the supercharger on top. The Procharger mounts to the front of the engine, and ductwork connects the supercharger to the intercooler, and the engine. Since the LS7 engine in your 2006 Z06 has a different intake port configuration than a standard LS1 or LS2 Corvette, the current Magnuson supercharger kit won't fit. They are currently working on an LS3 version, that will work on the LS7 engines as well.

We are direct dealers for both Procharger and Magnuson/Callaway, and are very experienced with all forms of forced induction for Corvettes, so if it helps, please feel free to give me a call and I can explain the different setups for you.

either way you cut it you will be looking at making your Z into one hell of a beast!! I am jealous because I would love to do something like that however the $ issue these days is getting a little hectic! Maybe when we come out of this recession I will make the plunge!

Boost will get you through days of no money better than money will get you through days of no boost!

Sorry, I had to interject that!

I own a pro-charger(the model Ed refers to above) and am very happy with it. APS twin turbos are also an excellent way to go.

Good luck.

I decieded to go with the polished Maggie on my Z06, and love it. As mentioned above the torque comes on very soon, and stays climbing till 6000+ RPM's, mine put down 483RWTQ the other day, it is still in the speed shop (http://www.speedengineeringanddyno.com/index.html)getting all the accessories added and finalizing the custom tune.
