My Dash also goes Dim and bright at times, but very few times and not too Dim. Now as for my Gas meter, I have the same problem as you.... Marks me half a tank when I'm on E!! and sometimes when I'm on half it'll mark me for a full tank. If you get to the problem before I do, I would appreciate it if you told us here :). I am seriously thinking on carrying a stick with me and dipping it in my gas tank to meter gas that way.

Most likely the slider on the gauge sender unit needs cleaning

Thanks for the great info Vetteoz, thing is I already did part of this :X. At mechanic school I went in, did all the steps and found my problem(so I thought...) My float arm practically came off when I took out my sending unit. I did a temporary solution by tying down the float arm to the sliding base(up and down to mark the fuel) with a small tie strap. Maybe my whole unit is defective because I'm still getting false readings :(.

To the left of your A/C panel above the 4 buttons (trip,english/metric) there`s a ambient light sensor, This sensor along with the headlight switch rheostat adjust the dash lights. Make sure you don't have something covering the sensor or dash lights will go crazy.
