The vibrating ones or the large variable speed spinning deal? Need to get a buffer and there seems to be a good price difference so somethings up. Which is better for polishing up a Vette?

Thanks

Hello 1SickZ,

When i comes to polishing your Vette, there are two different machines you can use:

D/A Orbital Polisher:
These machines are effective at removing light swirls and paint imperfections. They take little to no experience to operate. They are also light and easy to use. The most popular machines are the Porter Cable 7424 and 7336 Polishers (http://www.adamspolishes.com/c-14-machine-polishing.aspx) and The Ultimate Detailing Machine (http://www.autogeek.net/ultimate-detailing-machine-da-polisher.html). For more information on polishing with a D/A, checkout these instructional videos:

Circular Polisher or High-Speed Buffers:
Usually used by professional detailers and body shops for removing heavy swirl marks and paint imperfections. Rotary buffers take a lot of skill and practice to use. In the hands of inexperienced users, these machines can cause further damage to a vehicle's paint. In the hands of a seasoned professional, these machines can be highly effective at removing imperfections D/A Polishers can not.

If your vette is in near perfect shape and you plan to maintain it regularly, you should be in good shape with a Dual-Action Polisher. If your vette is showing some signs of wear (heavy oxidation, swirls, scratches, etc.), then you may want to consider having it buffed by a pro with a circular polisher.

Thanks and please let us know if you have any additional questions!

If you don't have rotary experience Flex makes a new Random Orbital Polisher (Model XC 3401 VRG) that works great compared to a Porter Cable 7424 or UDM. It's not cheap at about $280.00 but it's a well built machine and well worth the money in my opinion. I used it last weekend to polish my 02 Viper ACR. Here's a few pictures after polishing only with NO wax or sealant applied.

If you have experience and perfer a Rotary Matabo is my choice.
