: White powder buildup on battery?

Does this mean the battery is on it's way out? Or something else, like moisture, or loose connection? Mine is doing this yet I am having no battery usage issues.

Just get some of that spray on battery protectant after you clean it off and it won't happen anymore, get it at Autozone.

the battery is not on the way out, the white stuff is the result of battery acid reacting with the terminals. Baking soda will neutralize the acid, clean the battery top with baking soda dissolved in water.

A friend / mechaninic said where the terminal comes out can never really be completely sealed, and suggest a little dab of grease around the base of the terminal will help keep the acid vapors from coming through.
