Hello

My dad bought me a used 2004 C5 pretty red Corvette last year as a going off to college present. It had Z06 wheels, tinted windows and a Magnusson supercharger already installed on the car.

I love the car but the noise the supercharger makes is sometimes annoying. Is there a way to make that quieter? Or how big of job is it to remove it? One of my friends at my school was saying that there was a bunch of parts that would need to be installed in place of the supercharger?

If it’s a big deal I'll just keep it the way it is. Anyone help me on this please? Thank you

Stacy

suggest you call a vendor in your area that's a dealer and see what they will give you for it and have them include removal as part of the deal.

The noise your hearing is the WHINE of Extreme Power that some of us would love to hear... Maybe you should trade the car for a non-supercharged vette... you might like:cheers: it better, and make Someones day!!!

Some do find the MagnaCharger supercharger whine annoying. Like what was stated above, it is part of the supercharger.

In fact most of the noise is the air blowing through the supercharger, another smaller part is the internal gears that keep the supercharger lobes in sync.

Hi Stacy,

If you don't mind me asking, do you floor the gas pedal a lot? Usually the Magnuson only makes the whining noise when you're at wide open throttle making full boost!
If you're not flooring it, and still hearing a noise, your car may have an issue that needs fixed. Whatever you do, I wouldn't pull the blower off and go back to stock... your Vette won't be the same!

Feel free to call me if I can answer any questions for you,
Ed

Thanks so much everyone, I have responded to all your post. Actually my father is going to have me keep this thing for now. He is talking about taking this car and giving me a newer Vette with no supercharger. :willy_nilly: yeh! ;)

Gee, guess you can't go wrong there! Congrats! :D

What is your dad going to do with the supercharged Vette?

Do you have any pics? Some of the Vette would be nice to.

Very nice of your father! You will need to post some photos of your new Vette.
