What benefits would I get out of having my Stock LS1 tuned.
Should it be a street tune or Dyno tune or both. Also does it
make a difference wht Dyno you have it tuned on. I have read
the Dyno Jet 248C is the most accurate and reliable. There is one
located near my location.

I don't think it's worth it on a stock engine... MAYBE if you have an Automatic and you've got the money to burn...

I'd wait until you open up the intake and exhuast though!

A lot depends on the tuner. If you find a great one, stick with him. A great tuner is worth his weight in gold. However on a stock application you might get 10-20 additional rear wheel HP (RWHP).
Now if you add parts to the car, most likely your tuner will charge you for a re-tune. Thats what they do for a living anyway so it shouldn't be a surprise. So weigh in all the options and talk to tuners to find out what they do.
Also, pop on over to the HP Tuners (http://www.HPTuners.com)website to see what novices to pros do for tuning as well.

As to dynos, you'll get a lot of opinion as well as a lot of facts. DynoJet is the "industry standard", "numbers" dyno here in the US. In Australia (Melbourne by itself has 300+ dyno shops in it!) the "industry standard" is Dyno Dynamics. If you want a dyno that reads pretty close to crank HP on a manual trans, DynaPack is your dyno. So you can see that there is not one answer to the dyno question. A tuner also has to take into account all the various dynos, their capabilities, their strengths, and weaknesses.

So what do YOU want. :D

I have an Automatic. I was just wondering what I would gain on the stock engine. Thanks for the feedback.

With automatics you can change shift points, converter lock up, shift firmness and shift speed to fit your driving style or needs.

I don't think that a dyno tune would be worth the money a stock or near stock LS1 ( intake & exhaust). I think you would be better off going with a programmer unless you have wild plans for your Vette. And if you do I would say that you should wait and get a dyno tune. Let me know what year your Vette is and I'll give you a dyno chart so you can see the power you would get from a Hypertech tune.
