I know this isn't a Corvette but I figure you guys might be able to use something I've done on your own ride. Plus it's got an LS1 so it's in the same family  I started this thread on LS1tech (http://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=858362) 2/4/08 so I'll copy what I have so far and update as I go along.

I will be posting in this thread all the modifications I make to my Camaro I picked up last Saturday. My plans are to build another car this season to showcase my products.

I'm starting with a stock 2001 SS Camaro... This is the first Camaro I've had that's been able to pass smog with flying colors :D

Here's some pictures from the day I picked it up:

Today I reconditioned the stock head lights and ground the three plastic casting tabs flat. I wet sand them from grits 220 > 400 > 600 > 800 > 1000 > 1500 > 2000. Then I used Novus #3 Heavy Scratch Remover followed by Novus #2 Fine Scratch Remover. It took a couple hours and I hope to never do it again, lol.

Polished my MAF and cleaned the electrical sensors last night. I used a Dremel w/ a carbide bit to knock down the casting lines. Then I used 120 > 220 sanding drums. Then smoothed it out with sand paper 400 > 600 > 800 > 1000. Then used a 6" buffing wheel with medium and fine buffing compound and wheels. Finished it off w/ some of our polished stainless button head bolts ;)

Did the throttle body bypass and got my Blackwing lid on. I'm working on polishing the throttle body right now...
I'll be powder coating my valve covers, intake manifold, calipers, fuel rail, and lots of brackets soon.

Finished polishing / painting my throttle body using the same steps as the MAF... Gotta get some stainless hardware for the sensors. I painted the metal parts w/ high temperature Aluminum color and Clear.

Thanks everyone!

Threw it back together to drive it a little last night and make sure my throttle body bypass wasn't leaking. Still trying to decide what color theme I'm going to do in the engine bay; it needs to be clean but stand out at shows... May try my hand at true fire?

I still can't get over how white looks clean when a black car would look filthy! lol

Thanks everyone!

I've had these pedals for the last 3+ years but never had an automatic to install them on... Now I do :) Don't ask where I got them from because I have no idea, lol.

Washed the SS for the first time today. As far as I know the paint has never seen a clay bar and it shows. The paint feels like sand paper in some places! Next wash I'm going to clay bar and buff the paint & wheels.

Here's the first "big project" for the Camaro. I decided to add sound deadening since I'm building strictly a show / cruise car this time around w/o any engine work like last time. It's not too much added weight (about 55LBS) and it's spread out evenly around the car so I'm not concerned about it. I did a lot of research about sound deadening and found Raamat to have some of the best results and yet still be very cost effective. Rick from Raamat couldn't have been more helpful and I got everything in 4 days!

Here's a couple shots of everything I got (2 rolls of BXT, 6 yards of Ensolite, 3 cans of glue) and I'll update this thread tomorrow with install pictures :)

Wasn't able to finish today but I'm almost half way through with the sound deadening. I finished the trunk and doors before it started raining again. More tomorrow if it stops raining... Here's a couple of shots:

Here's some shots of the BXT before I install the Ensolite on top of it... The two rolls gave me enough to do two layers in the trunk area, floor pans, & trans tunnel.

Here's the Ensolite. I still have to do another layer in some spots, but you get the idea.

Chad, I did put BXT inside the doors. I took before video so I wonder if I'll be able to tell the difference in the video...?

I was going to polish the face of my stock rims but got lazy and just purchased some 35th Anniversary machined face 10 spokes :) Should be here in a week or so...

Here's the white face gauges and shift knob installed. I cut the shaft on the shifter 3/4". I'm happy with the way everything turned out!

Finished the other side and cleaned up the wheel wells a little. I'll tackle the rears tomorrow :)

This is my first time ever working on the suspension of an my Camaro. After I finished the passenger side front, the drivers side front went a lot smoother. Only hitch was pulling the brake fluid reserviour back to loosen the T-50 bolt that sits under it. The rears look pretty simple...
