A mechanic was just telling me earlier that with aluminum engines antifreeze needs to be changed out every two years or so to prevent damage to the engine because of how the Antifreeze reacts with the aluminum?

True or False?

Dexcool has been specifically formulated to work in engines with combined metals. Earlier on there were some problems with it on aluminum heads and iron blocks, when the dexcool was exsposed to air it would congeal... it was mainly in... Damn I forget what car!

But regardless, stick with Dexcool or equivalent and the recommended maintenance intervals, you'll be good to go!

Not sure, there has been a negative mystic around Dexcool since it was first introduced and that stuff happened... He may just be playing it safe. Nothing wrong with that really.

Follow the recommended change interval in your owner's manual. Lethal has a pretty aggressive maintenance routine, and there's nothign wrong with that either!

I do mine every 2 years because its easier than flushing the whole system with cleaner and distilled water and trying to dispose of the waste every few years.
