Sounds like the vent door is not opening properly.

Would that be a vacuum issue?

Sometimes this can be caused by low freon. Or, if the actuator door is stuck, sometimes disconnecting the battery for ten minutes or so can cause it to reset. If you're throwing any codes, try resetting them, that can work sometimes too. Just throwing out some simple suggestions before you start pulling things apart.

Would you touch the cables together for 10 seconds to reset?

check your codes
that is what they are there for.
while you are there , clear your HVAC codes WHILE THE MOTOR IS RUNNING , this resets the actuators

THIS WORKS AT LEAST 1/2 THE TIME

Okay guys, you're throwing out some incorrect information here. One thing that is correct is that you ALWAYS start by pulling your codes. That is the car's way of telling you what is wrong with it. Second, checking the amount of freon is a very simple thing to do and remedy if there is a problem. Also, you can't pull the codes or clear them with the car running. To access the codes, the engine has to be off.

To the OP, you don't just dump a bunch of freon in the system if it is low. There is an exact amount that should be in a fully charged system and there is a specific type of freon that is used.

As for recalibrating the actuators, there is specific way it is done. The following is the correct procedure.

Re-Calibrating Actuators
Use the following steps to perform the calibration update:

1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Remove the battery positive voltage circuit fuse of the HVAC Control Module (fuse #27).

Important
The module memory will not clear if the battery positive voltage circuit fuse is installed in less than 60 seconds.

3. Wait 60 seconds.
4. Install the fuse.

One thing that will throw your actuators out of whack is spinning the temperature selection knob too fast. If you turn the dial from 90 degrees all the way to 60 degrees in one quick spin, it sometimes doesn't give the computer that controls the HVAC time to react correctly. This can sometimes cause one side to blow hot and the other side to blow cold. You can often reset this problem by turning the temperature all the way up or down, turn the HVAC off and back on again, and then SLOWLY rotate the knob all the way in the opposite direction.

It's a common problem. Mine did it the other day when I knowing better, spun the knob to fast. I then did the off/on trick that I explained previously and that fixed it. There was a TSB out about spinning the knob too fast.
