For those of you that have done this, primarily in hotter locales is there going to be a benefit with going vinyl seats instead of leather?
Price wise it's quite easy to see.

other than price? leather looks better, is longer lasting and more durable. but vinyl is more........................hmmm., can t think of anything.

just a comment, in diy section of the form a guy shows how to redo seats and putting hose over the frame and carpet over the springs help tremendously

Some of the synthetics are actually really nice.

I can just feel the sweat building up in the summer time from the vinyl!

I don't see any benefit, if you're going to go through the trouble of installing new skins I would recommend leather. I did my interior over for $699...seat skins, boots, console cover, visor covers (and other parts were included that I haven't used yet).

Neoprene for me. (covers) I installed brand new OEM skins and less than a year, the heat, humidity and body oils were starting to make the leather get crunchy. granted i don't regularly condition my leather, but i decided neoprene covers felt better, looked better and could be removed for cleaning.

Another option is higher quality leather from a custom shop to re-do your seats.

Very sharp looking seats. Did you have to add new foam? How about the lumbar and side pieces (air bags) that have typically gone out of a car over 10 years old? I hear those are very difficult to re-do & have been told to just live with out them.

I live in Tampa and have suffered through sweatty backs in the Summer and would advise staying away from vinal. If you want a good cover that is overlooked many times - have you thought about sheepskin? Check out the Custom Tailormade original ones that have been made at Superlamb.com gallery (they wouldn't let me post the site because I'm still a newbie)

My favorite is the Honda S2000 Silver/Navy 2 tone, and they are Extremly comfortable in both Summer and Winter (I have them on another car - ask for Lindsay). There are 6 corvettes in there also.
