I had an Escort before and it was too sensitive. It would pick up Xband from like 2 miles away. In fort worth where I live the Fort Worth ISD has decided to put a thing in the back of all the school busses that makes a radar detector go off saying either K band or Ka band. My escort would read a bus a mile ahead of me and wouldn't shut up. I would slow down unless I saw the bus w/ my own eyes. I like Beltronics. I have a Beltronics 965 and Love it.

Neither - Get yourself a Rocky Mountain Radar - they have 2 or 3 models that have built-in scramblers which provide garbled feedback to a radar gun long enough for you to slow down..the scrambler feature works as long as you're 200+ feet away from the gun..

According to the August 09 test from "guys of lidar" The Valentine 1 v3 is the way to go:

Escorts are the best protection for the price in the pre-owned world.

I'm happy with my Escort 8500. No problems so far. The choice is yours. LEO will always be one step ahead of you with either model. :soapbox:

from using and selling both, im partial to the Escort... As far as rocky mountain goes, been there, carried them, used them, and have no faith whatsoever in them.... Dont work worth a damn.

Check out the bell STI driver radar its about $500 and is undectable by VG3 and new VG4 units
Great when your running in a area that prohibits radar use.
