2004 C5 with stock wheels. Whats a good upgrade that will stick nicely during dry pavement? I'm not looking for a drag radial?

Thanks everyone.

You'll find alot of people have the Michelin Pilots or if you want even more grip start looking at the R compound tires, Nitto has some nice ones - 555R's.

Good luck

Hi Fin,
I've got Michelin Pilot Sport II's. Best tire for street performance and they will not wear out too fast. Up here in the Seattle area we've been known to get a little rain and when I've happened to get on the wet stuff they've held great. Even had a few sessions at Pacific Raceway where it was wet and they never slipped out on me.
I grew up in Corona del Mar, the town next to you. I know that when it rains down there, it really pours. Anything with R compound is going to suck on wet pavement. My two cents.
Newport is a Beautiful place. Too bad the media is portraying your town in such a terrible light; IE, "The OC".
Enjoy riding down PCH. :burnout:

Ditto, PS IIs are great.

I would be careful about using R compound. Most are good for between 3,000-6,000 miles. I road race on Pilot Sport Cups and they get expensive if you use them on the street!

Hi there,
I just joined the forum today:cheers: Thought this was an interesting topic to jump into. Don't know if you are looking at just non-run flats or if you are open to run flats. I'm running Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZPs on my 04 coupe and they are a pretty big improvement over the Goodyears if you are only running your car on the street.

With the general opinion that the Michelins are a better tire, I wonder why doesn't GM offer this as an option? Go with the Michelin option and get a free can of Fix a Flat!
