jackel04 03-12-2010, 05:38 AM No heat trapping?
vettechrome 03-12-2010, 09:20 AM No heat trapping?
We get this question alot... In my opinion any cover is somewhat beneficial. Most of the underhood heat is from radiant exhaust manifold/header heat and heat that is being circulated by the cooling fan(s),etc. Any component that is covered is actually protected from this heat. The little heat produced by the components themselves are nothing to even be concerned about... An intake for example should be the temperature of the air being drawn into it (through the air filter and throttle body) combined with the radiant underhood tempatures. If a cover was on the intake I think it would actually be protected from some of the surrounding heat and tempature of it would lower. All of these variations are on a very small scale but to answer your question... I dont think covers trap heat. If they do I dont think its enough to be concerned about. I also think about the technology behind R&D at GM... They are putting intake covers on the LS3 from the factory and Fuel rail covers have been used for years to protect the parts beneath them (fuel lines, coil packs, harnesses, etc.)
stutteringstanley 03-12-2010, 02:11 PM That looks great!
brents2002beast 03-13-2010, 05:47 AM That looks very nice!
vettechrome 03-13-2010, 01:20 PM Thanks again for the compliments! We actually make these covers by vacuum forming... The end result is a part that fits nicely as it was formed using a mold identical to the stock intake. We are currently in the process of developing covers for other parts (interior and underhood) so keep checking the site for new updates. These covers are nice! :thumbsup3:

vettechrome 03-22-2010, 10:13 PM We just sold out of these this weekend... We are in the process of molding and chroming another batch now. The whole process of molding, trimming, chroming takes roughly 3-4 weeks. We usually try to make 40 at the time but they seem to go as fast as we can produce them. If anybody orders it will be considered a "preorder" and those will be the first to ship as they are completed. We will keep you guys updated on availability but at this time preordering puts you first in line for earliest delivery. Thanks again for all of the orders and compliments
