I'm looking for aftermarket racing seats that look sporty, function sporty, but also look good also. Many of the seats I have seen are all cloth and so choppy in design? Any suggestions?

Caravaggio has some nice seats, not sure what price range you looking at, but his seats and work is A+, you pay for the quality.

Caravaggio are terrific seats. I'm installing their normal "race seat" in my street car. They are great for street use and occasional track use.

If you want a true "road race" seat that keeps your body from moving around under high Gs, I would look elsewhere. Most racers use cloth and a seat like Sparko, Recaro or Ultrashield.

Ex. of true racing seat in my track only car:

No, that's made by Ultrashield. It's designed to keep you from moving around during high G turns on the track. Without this type of seat, when you start "pushing the car" you slide all over the place and need to use your elbows and knees to stabilize your body.

Race seats keep you firmly planted in the seat with little of no movement. That allows you to relax and lightly grip the steering wheel and control the car.

Notice also that the very top of the seat has side bolsters to control the movement of your head. If your car were to take a strong side impact, it keeps your neck from getting injured from side impact movement (ie. of your head). A HANs device protects your neck in the event of a front on collision where your head would normally snap forward.

A true race seat is a bitch to get in and out of, plus you are wedged into it. Not something that you want in a street ride.

Definitely not the seat I want. But your post was educational. Those seats do look like once you’re in, you’re not going anywhere. Do you happen to know more street friendly seats that are priced fairly?

Thanks again!

Go to their website and download the pdf in the "interior" "seats" section. The seat you want is the C5/C6 leather race seat (not the GT race seat). These are great for the street and can be used for occassional track days. They are $1,400 each.

Sparko makes good seats which are cloth covered. Most models run about $800 per seat. Remember, the higher the side bolsters are, the tougher to get in and out. Good luck.
